An 18-year-old suspect was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday morning on suspicion of house breaking by Beacon Bay police and members of the dog unit in East London.
Police captain Stephen Marais says Beacon Bay police were on patrol when they noticed 2 youths standing on the side of the North East Expressway near the Christian Centre just after 3am.
The youths split up and while one managed top escape, the other one was arrested in nearby bushes.
Police subsequently found a trolley containing gas bottles and fittings at the spot where the youths were first seen.
Marais said the youth, from the Nompululelo township, near Beacon Bay, was being held in custody.
He is believed to have been involved in robberies in the Vincent and Cambridge Areas of East London.
