East London police have appealed to the community for help in finding a suspect who allegedly raped two women late last year.
Eastern Cape police spokesperson, Captain Khaya Tonjeni, said the case is being investigated by the Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit.
He said the incident occurred on 6 November, 2020 when two women, aged 17 and 21, were attacked by the knife-wielding suspect in Vergenoeg in Buffalo Flats.
“The suspect drew a knife and demanded their cell phones and money. He pushed them to the nearby bushes where he raped both victims, threatening to stab and kill them,” Tonjeni said.
He said a case of rape is under investigation and anyone who may recognise or can assist police in tracing the suspect should contact Detective Sergeant Mahlanza on 0798968595 or Crime Stop 08600 10111 or their nearest police station.
