Seven people were killed in a head-on collision on the N2 between Dutywa and Butterworth on Saturday evening.
The Eastern Cape Transport Department says a Toyota Avanza collided with a truck at around 19:00.
Spokesperson, Unathi Binqose says all seven occupants in the Avanza, six men and a woman, died at the scene, while the truck driver sustained critical injuries.
He says the cause of the accident is not known and police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.
