East London police have arrested 15 people following a protest by a group of residents of Nompumulelo informal settlement on Thursday morning.
Algoa FM News has learnt that police used two stun grenades to disperse a group of about 80 people who had failed to heed an earlier warning to end the illegal protest.
Those arrested are being charged under the illegal gatherings act.
Nompumelelo township committee member Nonkululeko Sityotyo says they were marching to the municipal office to present a request for a second phase of RDP houses.
She says the march was their last resort following countless fruitless efforts to have their request approved.
