EL men bust for robbing clothing storees


Three people are due to appear in court in East London this week after being arrested for a spate of robberies at major clothing stores in the city.

Police said that the three were arrested on Friday night in Mdantsane by members of the areas Crime Prevention Unit.

They're accused of being behind several armed robberies at four different clothing stores a few days ago.

Police spokesperson, Nkosikho Mzuku, said they recovered clothing and also seized mandrax tablets during the arrests.

He said the men, aged between 23 and 36, face charges of business robbery and the possession of stolen goods as well as drugs.

Meanwhile, two Eastern Cape men caught in possession of 15 stolen sheep are due in court this week on charges of stock theft.

The men were arrested by Centane police who found the sheep at the back of a bakkie on Friday.

The stolen animals have a value of R27 000.thousand rand.

Acting Butterworth Cluster Commander Colonel Ncedo Ngwendze has praised Centane police for their swift action in arresting the two suspects and recovery of the stolen sheep.
