A man from an informal settlement in Gonubie in East London has been killed while waiting to use a communal toilet.
Police spokesperson, captain Steven Marais, says the 42-year-old man and a friend were attacked in the early hours of Saturday morning while waiting to use the toilet.
He says a group of men tried to rob them and when the deceased tried to fight back he sustained an open wound to the head.
His friend fled and alerted police who later found the deceased's body outside the communal toilet.
