An East London man appeared in court on Tuesday for being in possession of mandrax tablets worth tens of thousands of rands.
Police spokesperson, Nkhosikho Mzuku, says the 30-year-old suspect was arrested on Monday night by members of Mdantsane's Crime Prevention Unit, under the command of Warrant Officer Martin Moonie.
He says the suspect was found with 660 mandrax tablets valued at around R35 000.
Mdantsane Cluster Commander, Major-General William Mbaliso, says they've prioritised drug abuse and their aim is to eliminate this scourge.
Mzuku says the suspect was remanded in custody until Friday when he makes another court appearance.
