An East London man accused of beating his pregnant girlfriend to death appeared in the local Magistrates court on Thursday.
Police Spokesperson Captain Mluleki Mbi says the 33-year-old Thilani Kopolo allegedly beat his 29-year-old girlfriend Linda Ruga to death.
He says Ruga was 6 months pregnant at the time and suffered a miscarriage due to the assault.
Mbi says Ruga was admitted to hospital shortly after the attack and was discharged later.
She died shortly after.
The case was postponed until the 7th of June and the suspect will remain in custody.
