EL man arrested with abalone, red lobsters and crabs

A 34-year-old man is expected to appear in the East London Magistrates Court soon following his arrest for contravening the Living Marine Resources Act.

Spokesperson Captain Mluleki Mbi says a crime intelligence driven operation resulted in the arrest of the suspect in a house in Vincent.

He says the man had 120 kg of abalone, red lobsters, crabs and fish which were found stashed in freezers.

Mbi says the street value is over R100 000.
