Police in Mdantsane in East London have arrested a man and seized hundreds of mandrax tablets worth an estimated R50 000.
Police spokesperson, Captain Mluleki Mbi, said the bust was made on Friday morning by members of Mdantsane SAPS Operational Command Centre following a tip-off.
“On entering and searching the premises, over 900 mandrax tablets were recovered and a man in his forties was arrested and will be charged with the possession of and dealing in drugs,” he said.
The suspect will appear in court soon.
Acting Cluster Commander, Brigadier Marinda Mills, has praised the swift action of the OCC members and has also reassured the Mdantsane community that the SAPS will we will not falter in “our quest to rid our streets of drugs as they destroy the lives of young people”.
