East London police have arrested a suspect and seized more 105kg of crystal meth valued at around R70m.
Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Hazel Mqala, said that the massive bust was made when members of the East London Flying Squad were acting on information on a stolen vehicle.
She said the Flying Squad members, supported by the Hawks, Crime Intelligence officers as well as the Narcotics Enforcement Bureau, went to a house in St Michael’s Road in Southernwood on Sunday.
She said when the owner arrived to open up the garage police discovered a drug laboratory at the house.
Warrant Officer Mqala said approximately 105kg of crystal meth (tik) with a street value of R70m was seized.
She said vehicle was also confiscated.
Mqala said that a 31 year-old “male suspect has been arrested for dealing in drugs.
She said he will appear in court on Tuesday.
