Five East London police officers arrested for drug dealing appeared in the East London and Mdantsane magistrate court on Thursday.
Constables Zamikhaya Nqweniso, Siyanda Nobhatyi, Unathi Yoli and reservist constable Daluxolo Mgqibelo appeared in Mdantsane while Reneal Francis appeared in the East London court.
They all face charges of drug dealing, racketeering and defeating the ends of justice.
It is alleged they raided the homes of drug dealers and then sold the seized drugs.
Hawks spokesperson Captain Paul Ramoloko says the officer have been under investigation for over a year after receive information from members of the public.
The five remain in custody until their bail hearing on April 10th.
