Eight women appeared in court in East London on Thursday for the mob murder of a man in Beacon Bay on Sunday.
Twenty-three-year-old matric learner, Mbulelo Mtati, was attacked by a mob amid the frenzy in East London last week caused by rumours about the abduction of children in the city.
Police spokesperson, captain Stephen Marais, says the women abandoned their bid for bail when a large group, mainly matric learners, gathered outside court where the women appeared.
The suspects between the ages of 22 and 34 were threatened by protesters outside court and will remain in custody
