Eastern Cape Education MEC, Mandla Makapula, begins a two day visit to Nelson Mandela Bay on Thursday.
His visit comes amid dissatisfaction by schools in Port Elizabeth's northern areas around the shortage of teachers and a march planned for Friday.
The Basic Education Department is also facing a court application to compel it to implement the 2012 post provisioning programme in the Eastern Cape.
The Bhisho Education Department says Makapula will visit Uitenhage and Port Elizabeth on Thursday and Friday.
It says the MEC's visit is primarily aimed at facilitating unity while also bringing clarity to stakeholders about the vision adopted by the department.
