The Eden District Municipality has introduced an anti-fraud hotline which will also be rolled out to B-municipalities in the Eden district.
The roll-out followed an information session with stakeholders earlier this week.
Trix Holtzhausen, the executive manager for support services at the Eden District Municipality, says the introduction of the anti-fraud hotline forms part of their vision for good governance and running a credible district municipality.
She told Algoa FM News that the anti-fraud hotline is not merely punitive, but to encourage people to display ethical behaviour at all times.
"Fraud and corruption is part of our daily lives and we need to recognise that. We also must enable employees and the community to be able to communicate that openly and to have the confidence to report incidences relating to municipal practices" she said.
