The sister of a murdered Eastern Cape woman found the victim's 11-month old baby wandering around her corpse after she was shot dead by an assailant on Tuesday.
Police spokesperson, Captain Namhla Mdleleni, said that the victim's sister was contacted by her brother-in-law, who works outside the province, to check on his wife when he could not get hold of her.
She said the sister, who lives nearby in Mswawa Location near Ngcobo, rushed to the house where she made the grim discovery.
“During the preliminary investigation by the SAPS, it was found that the deceased victim had a bullet wound on her upper body. The child was unharmed and taken by relatives,” Mdleleni said.
She the motive the murder is not yet known and police have opened a murder docket.
The victim has not yet been identified.
