The Eastern Cape Police Provincial Organised Crime Unit has arrested four Mbashe Local Municipality traffic officers, a driving school owner, and her employee, for allegedly selling driving licenses to community members since 2017.
Police spokesperson Captain Jackson Manatha, said the suspects who were arrested in Dutywa on Thursday morning have been charged with fraud and corruption.
It is alleged that the suspects have been selling driving licences to the community as from 2017 till 2019.
Manatha said the officers are two men aged 42 and 59, while the two women are aged 40 and 42.
He said the driving school owner is a 39-year-old woman and a 30-year-old male driving instructor.
Manatha said the suspects will appear in the Dutywa Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
