Eastern Cape Traffic Authorities are advising motorists of snow on several mountain passes.
Provincial traffic spokesperson, Charles Bramwell, said Thursday that the Lootsberg and Wapadsberg passes were closed due to heavy snowfalls.
Several other major passes are still open but motorists are advised to proceed with caution.

Media Report from Provincial Traffic on snowfalls in the Eastern Cape the past 24 hours
1.The Loodsberg pass on N9 between Graaff Reinet en Middelburg
2. The Wapsberg pass between Graaff Reinet and Cradock. Both passes are closed due to heavy snowfalls
3. The R67 between Fort Beaufort and Queenstown is also moderately snowing but road is still open and slippery
4. The Kraairivier Pass between Barkley East and Lady Grey is also snowing and motorist are advised to better reschedule their trips as the snow falls are continues and can be problematic
5. On the R56 about 36 kilometers north of Mount Fletcher the snow is approx 5cm thick
6. Barkly Pass on the R58 between Barkly East and Elliot is also having snowfalls but road is still open but is being closely monitored
7. The Penhoek Pass on N6 between Queenstown and Jamestown is also snowing but the road is still open
“Motorists are urge to be extra cautious in these conditions as the road surface is slippery. Traffic Officers are on duty in all these areas together with teams from disaster managemen,” said Provincial Traffic spokesperson, Charles Bramwell.
He said updates will be provided throughout Thursday.
