The Eastern Cape will be hosting the third leg of the BRICS  Roadshow in East London on Tuesday.

The Roadshows by the government are being conducted countrywide as a build-up to the BRICS Summit which South Africa will be hosting in August.

The Eastern Cape government said the Summit presents the country “with a remarkable opportunity to demonstrate leadership in reforming global economic governance and promoting sustainable and inclusive development in Africa and the Global South.”

Bhisho government spokesperson, Khuselwa Rantjie, said that the Department of Small Business Development, in collaboration with the Department of International Relations and Cooperation would be hosting this “significant” event in preparation for the upcoming summit in Gauteng.

She said the roadshow, under the theme, "Building a Better Africa and a Better World," is being coordinated with the Eastern Cape Development Corporation to create awareness about the importance of the province’s and country’s participation in BRICS.

“This platform will provide an opportunity for the Minister, Premier, BRICS Sherpas, and members of the business community to engage in fruitful discussions on economic prospects for the province, through the various economic sectors,” she said.
