The ex-husband of a missing Gqeberha woman, Desiree Baartman, will be charged with attempted murder when he appears in court on Tuesday.
Police said the 59-year-old man was taken in for questioning over the weekend following a forensic analysis of their house in Bethelsdorp, which they reportedly shared despite being divorced.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, says there were signs of foul play at the house in Nagel Street in Extension 29 after police visited the scene on Friday and Saturday.
Fifty-seven-year-old Baartman was reported missing last Wednesday by her former husband.
Meanwhile, Naidu said the search for the missing woman continued on Monday with the K9 Search and Rescue Unit, Anti-Gang Unit, and SAPS Bethelsdorp scouring nearby bushes and surrounding areas.
Police are continuing to appeal to the public who can assist in tracing Baartman or may know of her whereabouts to urgently contact Bethelsdorp SAPS or Detective Warrant Officer Ben Killian at 072 342 7424 or Detective Constable Akhona Royi at 078 404 8296.
They can also call the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111 or their nearest police station.
