Dutywa police are investigating cases of murder and robbery after a tavern owner was shot dead on Saturday night.
Police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha, said that “it is alleged that three men arrived at the homestead of the 47 year old tavern owner at Pikweni Location, Cungcwini Village, Dutywa.”
“They pretended as if they were there to buy liquor. When the tavern owner was about to serve them, one of the suspects drew fire arm and shot him in his upper body,” Manatha said.
He said the gunmen took the man’s cellphone and an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing.
“The 47 year old man was rushed to Dutywa Health Centre where he was certified dead on arrival,” Captain Manatha said.
