An Eastern Cape school principal has been remanded in custody following his court appearance on Tuesday for rape and sexual abuse.
The 51-year-old man handed himself over to police on Monday after three school girls laid charges against him.
Police say the school principal allegedly sexually abused two 15-year-old girls and allegedly raped a 19-year-old girl in February.
The alleged incidents took place while they were returning in the man's car from a sporting event in Qunu.
Police said the girls only reported the matter last week.
Provincial police spokesperson, major Ernest Sigobe, says the case against the school principal from the Bityi area, was postponed to next Monday for a formal bail application.
