Eastern Cape SAPS have ordered an “urgent investigation” a video went viral of a confrontation between two women and a policeman at Motherwell police station in Gqeberha.
Provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana, said the investigation into the issue was ordered to establish the facts behind the incident.
In the video, a woman is seen being violently shoved away by a policeman following her reported attempt to file a hijacking report on Friday evening.
The footage sees a policeman, armed with a baton, forcefully pushing the woman away while a friend takes the video of the confronatation.
“At this point in time, the SAPS does not want to make any speculation on the issue, until the outcome of the investigation is finalised,” Brigadier Kinana said.
He said police would contact the affected parties as part of the ongoing investigation.
