The oldest living person in the Eastern Cape, and possibly South Africa, was vaccinated against Covid-19 on Friday
The provincial Health Department says 119-year old Nomamelika Philiso received the jab at her home in Qwidlana village, KwaBhaca.
Spokesperson, Siswe Kupelo says another senior citizen, a 97-year-old man was also vaccinated on Friday.
He says they were among elderly people who were registered by officials when they visited their homes recently.
Health MEC, Nomakhosazana Meth has encouraged more senior citizens to register for the vaccine.
