Its been a black weekend on Eastern Cape roads - with 19 fatalities reported in a number of road accidents in the province since Friday.
Provincial Traffic Deputy Director Charles Bramwell says three people were killed on Monday morning on the R72 just before East London.
A Mazda sting collided head-on with a minibus taxi.
Bramwell says the driver of the Mazda died on the scene and two passengers in the taxi.
The accidents reported since Friday was on the R61, R58, R72 and four accidents along the N2 stretching from Port Elizabeth to outside Butterworth.
