Four people were killed in an accident on the N2 near Ndabakazi in the Eastern Cape following a collision between a mini-bus taxi and a car.
Provincial Transport Department spokesperson, Khuselwa Rantjie said the two vehicles were travelling in the opposite direction when the driver of the car allegedly lost control of his vehicle.
She said it collided head-on with the taxi, killing all three people in the car while two occupants in the taxi, including a minor, were also killed.
“We are saddened by the loss of life on our roads, this weekend has been very busy for our emergency services,” said Transport MEC Weziwe Tikana.
“We further wish to extend our gratitude to the emergency services personnel who rush to these tragic scenes to give medical assistance and prevent further loss of life,” said Tikana.
Sunday afternoon’s crash took the weekend death toll on Eastern Cape roads to at least 15, following multiple fatal crashes on Saturday.
