The Eastern Cape Transport Department says eight people were killed in a head-on collision between two vehicles on the N2 outside Makhanda on Friday.
Department spokesperson, Unathi Binqose, said an Opel Corsa, with six occupants, including two minors, collided with a Toyota Quantum delivery vehicle at around 17.30.
“Seven perished on the scene while one male from the delivery vehicle died on arrival at Settlers Hospital,” he said.
This is the second gruesome accident to occur near Makhanda this week, after four people, including two women and a child, died in another head-on collision between two vehicles on the N2 on Thursday.
