A 23-year-old Willowvale man has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for rape and a further four for theft of a motor vehicle, Eastern Cape police said on Wednesday.
The provincial police spokesperson Jackson Manatha said the Willowvale Regional Magistrate’s Court had on Tuesday convicted and sentenced Siyanda Ndube of Mhlanga Village in Willowvale.
“He was found guilty of raping a 19-year-old woman on the 10 July 2011 at Willowvale,” said Manatha.
He said Ndube entered the homestead of the victim, forcing his way through the door.
“He then dragged her to the garden where he raped her,” said Manatha.
In addition to the 10 year sentence for rape, the four-year sentence for theft of a motor vehicle related to one he had stolen on September 11, 2013 in Mthatha.
