East London police have welcomed a lengthy sentence in a rape case which took place in Duncan Village in August 2013.
Spokesperson, Captain Stephen Marais says during the incident, a 59 year old victim was assaulted and raped in her shack.
He says the accused, 30-year old Sive Rweqane was found guilty on three counts - housebreaking, rape and theft.
Marais says he was sentenced in the East London High Court on Friday to 3 years for housebreaking, 15 years for theft and life imprisonment for rape.
