Eastern Cape Premier Noxolo Kiviet and her Executive Council have started their two day "lekgotla" in East London.
Provincial government spokesperson, Manelisi Wolela, says the meeting is an important strategic planning session of the provincial government.
He says the Premier, MECs, mayors and CEOs of parastatals are engaged in a planning session for the year ahead.
Wolela says decisions taken at the lekgotla will provide the basis for the State of the Province Address to be delivered by Premier Kiviet on February 17.
"The purpose of the lekgotla is to sit down and consider the performance of government over the past 12 months and in addition to that also do a sort of mid-term review because we just passed the mid-term of the fourth democratic in November last year," he said.
Wolela says over and above the mid-term review, the Lekgotla will consider the programme of action of the provincial government in terms of how Bhisho "will address the challenges of improving service delivery in the Eastern Cape."
