Police in Mthatha are preparing to question the owner of a house where the bodies of four babies and a foetus were found in freezers this weekend.
Police spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Mzukisi Fatyela, said the woman had returned from Johannesburg.
The grisly discovery was made by police who were acting on a tip-off.
Fatyela says they're also expecting the autopsy results on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Eastern Cape Health Department spokesperson, Sizwe Kupelo, said the discovery may be linked to illegal abortions.
He said the bodies were of four were full-term babies and one a foetus.
"It's a total of four girls and one boy. During the autopsy pathologists discovered a shoelace around the neck of one of the babies. Samples have been sent to the laboratory for DNA testing," he said.
At this stage no one has been arrested.
