Repairs to the causeway between Aston Bay and Paradise Beach at Jeffreys Bay will commence on Tuesday and will continue until the end of March.
Kouga Municipal Manager, Sidney Fadi, says sections of the causeway will be resurfaced and the foundation strengthened.
The surface of the causeway suffered extensive damage during 2014 due to strong winds and high water levels.
Fadi says the causeway will be closed to vehicles while repairs are underway however residents are advised that the schedule is weather dependant.
He says the alternative route for vehicles is the gravel road that is accessed from the R-102 between Jeffreys Bay and Humansdorp.
