Eastern Cape police are investigating the brutal murder of a senior manager, employed by the Department of Correctional Services, at Chris Hani Park in Mthatha.
Provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana says it is alleged that the victim was stabbed by her husband at their home in the early hours of Saturday morning.
He says the 43-year-old woman was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she later died.
The motive for the murder is not yet known, and police are investigating the circumstances.
Kinana says reports suggest that the suspect turned the knife on himself, but survived.
He was rushed to a hospital at Ngqeleni and will be arrested in due course.
It is believed that the deceased was a Director at Wellington Correctional Centre, and cannot be named at this stage, as her relatives have not yet been informed of the incident.
