Police in Hofmeyr in the Eastern Cape are investigating a case of murder after a farmworker was killed while trying to intervene in a fight.
Police spokesperson, captain Stefanie Smit, says the incident happened at around lunch-time yesterday on the farm Downley, near the town.
She says a 27 year old man, who tried to stop two people fighting, was hit over the head with a spade and died on the scene.
A suspect has been arrested and will appear in court soon.
