The South African Police Service in the Eastern Cape has strongly condemned a recent revenge attack and is issuing a stern warning to members of the community, not to take the law into their own hands.
The warning comes after two suspects aged 24 and 33 were beaten up and killed by community members at Mbombo Locality, near Matatiele on Monday.
Three suspects were cornered after they allegedly robbed a local supermarket owner at knife point in Mbombo Locality.
Two of the suspects died on the scene while the third managed to get away unharmed.
Police spokesperson, Major Ernest Sigobe, says items stolen from the supermarket were found on the deceased.
Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lt General Celiwe Binta said the SAPS will not tolerate lawless behavior, because vengeance seekers become criminals themselves.
He said the police will have no option, but to arrest them for their unlawful actions.
