An Eastern Cape murder suspect who attempted to commit suicide was earlier on Wednesday discharged from the Butterworth hospital where he was under police guard.
The 23-year-old suspect was allegedly seen chasing the 20-year-old Asithandile Zozo on Monday before stabbing her.
Zozo died at the scene.
Police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha said the suspect is believed to have taken an overdose of tablets in an attempt to commit suicide after he had allegedly committed the crime.
He says the suspect will be charged with murder and will appear before the Idutywa Magistrate Court on Thursday.
