The Auditor-General says a Municipality in the Eastern Cape used Covid-19 funds to purchase a car for the mayor.
Tsekani Maluleke provided a highlights package of her second report on Covid19 procurement spending to two Parliamentary Committees on Tuesday, after perusing the books of 43 municipalities.
She said procurement processes were not followed, tenders were awarded to family members and state officials in direct contravention of legal prescripts.
Maluleke is expected to have a full press briefing next week when more details will emerge.
