The Blue Crane Route Municipality in the Eastern Cape says it has received a pledge of R100 000 for its education trust, launched last week.
The Municipality, which covers the towns of Somerset East, Pearston and Cookhouse, launched the Education Trust to raise money to fund the tertiary studies of deserving matriculants from the towns.
Acting municipal manager, Fezekile Cotani, says they received a pledge of R100 000 from Cennergi, a renewable energy company building a massive wind farm in the Cookhouse area.
He says Absa Bank also made a financial pledge.
"We have got very positive results, so far we are sitting at R116 000 that has been raised through pledges and more companies have indicated that they will make further pledges. We are grateful for the positive response we got from the public" Cotani said
