EC mom in court for alleged child abuse

A 24 year old woman will appear in the Peddie Magistrates court on Wednesday, on a charge of child abuse.

Police Captain Mali Govender says the mother of two allegedly tied up her eldest child with chains and a lock on Friday afternoon.

The incident was reported to the police who alerted a social worker.

The two children aged six and eight have since been moved to their grandmother who lives in a neighbouring village.

Govender says the child had no visible injuries.
