A mother from Despatch in the Eastern Cape cowered under a duvet with her three children as robbers ransacked her house early on Monday morning.
Police said the 38-year-old woman from Khayamnandi heard someone “forcefully opening the lounge door of her house.”
According to police spokesperson Sergeant Majola Nkholi, moments later a suspect wearing a balaclava and brandishing a torch threatened the woman before she took cover under a duvet with her kids.
He said the woman and the children remained quiet until the robbers left the house.
“The suspects stole a television set, two speakers, an amplifier, a small fan, a backpack, a cellphone, six pairs of tekkies and three handbags before fleeing the scene,” Nkohli said.
“Police are investigating a case of house robbery,” he said.
