South African National Parks has once again asked the public to be on the lookout for anything that could lead to the safe recapture of a lion that escaped from Karoo National Park, outside Beaufort West two weeks ago.
The lion escaped from the park following heavy rains which caused soil erosion under a fence.
Karoo National Park management has requested that landowners bordering the farm Highlands, to the north-east of the park, be on the lookout for spoor or sightings of its escaped lion.
This comes after the two search teams lost the big cat's spoor over the weekend.
Park Manager, Nico van der Walt has assured Beaufort West residents of their safety.
He says that the lion was last seen more than 12km from the north-eastern boundary of the Park. This is in the opposite direction of the town's location to the park.
