EC men arrested with "jamming" devices

Humansdorp police have arrested four suspects found to be in possession of jamming devices.

Police spokesperson, Captain Gerda Swart, said that two of the suspects were also “positively” linked to a business robbery in Humewood, Port Elizabeth.

She said all four suspects were detained for the possession of house or vehicle-breaking implements.

“Alert members from the South African Police Service in Humansdorp acted swiftly after they received information about possible suspects driving around in a green BMW in the Humansdorp area today,” Swart said.

“Members noticed the vehicle driving in the Main Road and after the suspects noticed the police they sped off and a high speed chase ensued. Members managed to pull the BMW from the road on the N2 and arrested four suspects, aged between 39 and 53.

“Upon searching the vehicle and the suspects jamming devices were found in their possession,” said Swart.

“Two of the suspects were positively linked to the business robbery in Humewood and all four suspects were detained on the possession of house or vehicle breaking implements. Police also confiscated the green BMW,” she said.

“The four suspects are due to appear in the Humansdorp Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 24 April 2017 on the charge of possession of house or vehicle breaking implements,” Swart said.

“The two suspects that were positively linked to the business robbery will also appear in the PE Magistrate’s Court next week. Detectives are following up on all possible leads and further charges might be added,”she said.
