Controversial Nigerian Pastor, Timothy Omotoso, will be spending the next 11 days in jail following his dramatic arrest at the Port Elizabeth International Airport on Thursday.
The bail application of the 58-year-old was postponed to 3 May in the PE Magistrate's Court on Friday, where congregants from the of the Jesus Dominion International Church's PE branch gathered inside and outside court in support of him.
Omotoso is facing charges relating to Human Trafficking and Sexual Violence.
Omotoso was arrested in a dramatic show by the Hawks and members of the Tactical Response Team at the PE Airport on Thursday. When he, and other passengers entered the baggage arrival hall, TRT members armed with automatic weapons rushed into the area as Omotoso appeared to be fleeing the scene.
In the confusion some TRT members were seen running through the airport looking for him but he was found inside a toilet in the arrival halls.
He was then marched out of the toilet and airport building, surrounding by armed TRT members to a waiting car as crowds at the airport cheered his arrest.
National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson, Tshepo Ndwalaza, said Omotoso's case was postponed to 3 May to allow for further investigations in other provinces.
"There is still a lot of information that needs to be compiled," he said.
Ndwalaza said they were not in a position to divulge further information as the investigation will span other provinces and adding that more charges could be added.
Meanwhile, one of the organisers of a group that protested against Omotoso and in support of his alleged victims, Pamela Mabini, said they were organising more people to come for his next appearance.
She said they are pushing to get the Jesus Dominion International Church's PE branch to shut down, "we don't want that church here."
