An Eastern Cape man who was on the run after police discovered the body of his wife in a shallow grave has handed himself over to King Williams Town police.
Police Spokesperson Captain Siphokazi Mawisa says the suspect handed himself over after community members threatened to burn down his mother's house.
The 36-year-old Carmelitta Baatjies was reported missing a week ago.
Mawisa says while the husband was being questioned as part of their investigation, they noticed loose soil under a bed an outside shack in Breitbach.
The husband fled the scene while police made the gruesome discovery.
Another suspect was arrested on the scene and they will both appear in court on Monday.
