PE police looking for gangster who fired shots at his own child

Police in Port Elizabeth are on the hunt for a man who fired shots at his own daughter in Helenvale on Saturday night.

Police Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says the 11-year-old girl and her 57-year-old grandfather were standing outside their house in Ibex street when the suspect and his accomplice ran towards them and started shooting.

Several shots were fired but the grandfather managed to pick up the child and run to safety.

Police are investigating two charges of attempted murder.
