Eastern Cape police are investigating a home invasion on a farm at Stutterheim in which a 57-year-old man was stabbed with a screwdriver.
Police spokesperson, Captain Khaya Tonjeni, said that the incident happened in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
He said the victim woke up at around 4 am thinking it was his wife moving around the room.
However, Tonjeni said he noticed an unknown man in the room armed with a hammer and screwdriver.
“The man attacked the victim by striking him with the hammer and stabbed him with the screwdriver on the left forearm,” he said.
Tonjeni said the assailant gained entry to the house through a kitchen window. He also stole two cell phones and watch valued at R15 000.
No arrest was made and police are appealing to anyone who may have information that could assist the investigation to contact their nearest police station.
