A man from Jansenville who had a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl was sentenced to three years in prison.
The 28-year-old Ronwin Swema was sentenced earlier this week in the Jansenville Magistrates Court.
In June of 2018, he was in a relationship with the teenager and charged with rape when the child fell pregnant.
Police Spokesperson Captain Bradley Rawlinson says the teenager's grandmother suspected that her grandchild might be pregnant.
When the pregnancy, was confirmed at the local clinic, she opened a charge of rape.
He says Swema was only arrested in November 2019 and sentenced this week.
