A 24-year-old Eastern Cape man has been jailed for 24 years for raping his own mother.
Police spokesperson, captain Jackson Manatha, says the man was sentenced on Monday in the Butteworth magistrate's court.
The incident took place last December when the man attacked his 41-year-old mother at her home in a village at Centane.
Butterworth police have also praised the work of warrant officer Andile Kula of the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit for securing the conviction and sentence.
The suspects name has not been released to protect the identity of his mother.
