The Butterworth Regional Court has sentenced a man to 25 years in jail for raping a seven year old girl.
Police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha, says 27 year old Akhona Mpaphela was jailed on Monday for the attack on the child in 2013.
He says the perpetrator was a neigbhour of the young victim.
Butterworth Cluster Commander Brigadier Mbeko Sibhidla has welcomed the sentence and also praised investigator, Constable Simo Potelwa, for his work in the case.
