A 26-year-old Eastern Cape man is due to appear in court on Monday for the murder of an elderly woman.
Police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha, says “around the clock investigation into the murder of 77 year old Nongqongile Sololo, yielded positive results with the arrest of the suspect on Friday.”
“The deceased who was staying alone was allegedly murdered by the suspect during the night of Wednesday 12 July 2017 at her home which is Rwatsini Location, Gcina Village, Centane,” said Manatha
He said the deceased suffered upper body injuries. “The motive for the murder is clear at this point in time,” he said.
Butterworth Cluster Commander, Brigadier Trevor Mey said “non-stop investigation of such cases is in line with our Back to Basics policing approach which requires efficient and responsive investigation of crime utilizing all resources at our disposal to ensure that offenders are brought to book”.
